چکیده

Background High-resolution CE-MRI is a noninvasive imaging modality to monitor the progression and regression of atherosclerotic plaque and disruption. The purpose of this study is to monitor the progression of atherosclerotic plaque in rabbit model with serial high-resolution contrast enhancement MRI (CE MRI), and sought to differentiate the morphology and composition between ruptured and non-ruptured plaques before triggering.

Quantifying Intracranial Plaque Permeability with Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI: A Pilot Study.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Intracranial atherosclerotic disease plaque hyperintensity and/or gadolinium contrast enhancement have been studied as imaging biomarkers of acutely symptomatic ischemic presentations using single static MR imaging measurements. However, the value in modeling the dynamics of intracranial plaque permeability has yet to be evaluated. The purpose of this study was to use dyn...

T1 gadolinium enhancement of intracranial atherosclerotic plaques associated with symptomatic ischemic presentations.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Contrast enhancement of intracranial atherosclerotic plaques has recently been investigated using high field and high resolution MR imaging as a risk factor in the development of ischemic stroke. We studied the reliability of conventional MR imaging at 1.5T in evaluating intraplaque enhancement and its relationship with acute cerebrovascular ischemic presentations in pati...

Recent Advances in PET-MR Hybrid contrast agent

Introduction: All of the Imaging modalities have advantages and disadvantages alone. So if we want to have the best and perfect image, combining these modalities produces something we desired. PET-MR images consist of morphologic and metabolic data. MRI and PET provide high spatial and contrast resolution and high sensitivity and molecular information respectively. Hybrid PET-...

Use of contrast-enhancement and high-resolution 3D black-blood MR Imaging to identify inflammation in rabbit atherosclerotic plaques

Methods Ten atherosclerotic rabbits and three normal control rabbits underwent high-resolution 3D contrast-enhanced black-blood MRI. MR images and the corresponding histopathological sections were divided into four quadrants. Plaque composition was analyzed for each quadrant according to histopathological (percent of lipid-rich, fibrous, macrophage area and microvessel density) and imaging crit...

High resolution ex vivo magnetic resonance imaging of in situ coronary and aortic atherosclerotic plaque in a porcine model.

Atherosclerotic plaque composition is central to the pathogenesis of plaque disruption and acute thrombosis. Thus, there is a need for accurate imaging and characterization of atherosclerotic lesions. Even though there is no ideal animal model of atherosclerosis, the porcine model is considered to most closely resemble human atherosclerosis. We report the feasibility of MR imaging and character...
